Bookboard Streams Kids' Books to the iPad; But Are E-books Good For Your Children?

Bookboard is a new digital subscription service that streams children’s books to the iPad.
My boys and I have been testing it for about a month. Bookboard provides us with a steady supply of new storybooks at bedtime. It employs gamification elements to keep my seven year old son motivated to keep reading on his own. And it has caused me to reflect on the experience of reading to my kids on a tablet.

Innovative Ways the Autism Community Uses iPads

The iPad is an especially useful communication tool for young people with autism. Autism Spectrum Disorders are developmental disabilities that affect about one in every 88 children, and one in 54 boys.  It’s not uncommon for children with autism to be nonverbal and need the iPad to communicate. AutismSpeaks.org says it’s estimated that 25% of people with autism are completely nonverbal.

iPad Mini to Be Revealed October 23 [REPORT]

Although the iPad Mini — Apple’s unconfirmed cheaper and smaller version of the iPad tablet — was widely rumored to be revealed Oct. 17, with invitations supposedly coming Oct. 10, the invites never came. Now, All Things D claims the device will be unveiled Oct. 23, citing people familiar with Apple’s plans.

At this point, all the info surrounding the rumored 7.85-inch device is just that — a rumor, and that includes the date of the announcement. Plus, the October 23 is a Tuesday, and Apple has often been known to hold events on Wednesdays.
